About

Miss Hilton Ink is a contemporary mixed media artist based in the West Midlands. You will find examples of more traditional 2D work using watercolour, inks, oils and acrylic alongside many more contemporary 3D pieces. Its unusual for a piece to be made with just one material from beginning to end and often different materials are combined for a unique finish. Her influences include tattoo style work, day of the dead pieces and exploration of religious symbols. She often works with enclosing things within other things and will use shells and box frames to make shrines or shadow boxes and is often known to reuse and recycle materials as well as using found objects in her work. Collage is a regular feature in her work and any animal matter such as bones or skins or insects are ethically sourced and often found in nature. Regular at Worcester Alternative Artists Market (Worcester UK).

On the surface of some of the contemporary works they can seem controversial, exploring themes of feminine sexuality and religion. These pieces form part of a wider exploration of identity and faith within a creative practice, celebrated by original pieces that are eye-catching and conversation starting focal points to any modern living space.

Our Plastic Promise - I made a pledge in 2018 to no longer buy plastic products for my artwork (this includes glitter and postage items). However in a bid to reduce waste and re-use and recycle items I do include 2nd hand, pre-loved plastic items and packaging where I can. I also continue to use plastic based items that were already purchased before this point (still not out of glitter!!).

Reusing, recycling (and problem solving) is at the <3 of our ethos.

Covid-19: In the absence of face to face markets I don't have much of an online selling platform so I have decided to utilise this page more. Luckily through lockdown I have had studio access so I have been consistently making new work which I want to share with you all.

Post day will usually be a Monday.

Commissions: I do take commissioned work, but only if I think I'm the right person for the job! Feel free to get in touch about making something unique [email protected]
